Christmas Card Day

Hello!

I'm still making my Christmas cards.  I think this is my 3rd year of not buying any Christmas cards and hand making them all.  This one I created with a Simon Says Stamp set called "Christmas Squad".  The set even has a gingerbread man, a cat and a dog with Santa hats on them.  Super cute!  I stamped the couple (in my mind, me and my husband) and then covered them with masking paper and then I stamped the tree.  After watercoloring everything, I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops to the ornaments and while they were still wet, dropped glitter on top.  I'm entering it in the SSS Christmas Card Day challenge.  Merry Christmas!

Watercolor Weekend December 15, 2018

Hello Watercolor Friends,

My card for the Watercolor Weekend Round-up is one of those classic scenes of dragging the Christmas tree home. Hope you recreate it and tag me on Instagram. I will be attempting to explain, step by step, how I make my Art Impressions watercolored cards so your feedback is welcome. I'm certain it took longer to create this post than it did to make my card (haha).  My memory is not so good so I will take pictures along the way.

The first thing I did was create the tree sideways using the 4960 - WC Fir Trees set.  I stamped the trunk in sepia and then stamped all of the branches in pine green. I used water on my brush to dab at the colors just like Bonnie Krebs, owner/creator of Art Impressions does on her YouTube videos.

I had watched Sandy Allnock's video on YouTube where she converted the little kids to be dressed in winter clothes so using the stamp positioner, I inked up the little boy stamp from the 5054 - WC Little Boys Set in sepia but I didn't ink the right side of his shirt so he could be dragging the tree.  I drew in the hand and arm using the sepia fine tip.  Next I used my palette to color the little boy's boots in black, his jacket in sepia and painted his hands in the Prussian blue to make them look like he was wearing mittens.   I didn't ink the brim of his hat either, so I could make it a snow hat instead. I used the olive brown from the palette to paint in a scarf.

I colored the hat in with the olive brown from my palette and used the Prussian blue to color in a hat band and ball of fur on top of it. I colored the boys hair with brown from the palette.  I do believe it's my new favorite color for hair since my red-headed grandson Caide was born.  I used a dab of rosewood on the palette to paint in his face and ear.  I used the fine tip of the Prussian blue pen to add the fringe to the scarf and the outline the mittens, hat band and ball of fur.  I took my olive brown fine tip and drew in the lines on the hat and scarf.

I stamped the house from the 4962 - WC Rustic Cabins Set in Sepia then pulled the color out of the lines.  I used lt. teal on the palette to color in the windows, sepia for the chimney and olive brown for the door, roof and around the windows. I drew in the wreath using the fine tip of the pine green pen and the bow in persimmon. I used the little foliage from 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set to create the little bushes. I softened the green foliage with a wet brush then added the little berries with the fine tip of the persimmon pen. I used a lot of water and small amount of African violet on the palette to create the snow, the smoke from the chimney, and a small amount of sky.  I added Wink of Stella glitter to the snow.  I stamped the sentiment, then I used the Rectangle Double Stitched dies to cut it out and then the largest sized die to cut out the background piece of paper which I adhered to the back of my scene, then I adhered that to the card base.  Lastly, I signed my name and date to the bottom right corner using my favorite pen - a Copic multi liner 0.03 pigment ink.

Watercolor Weekend December 1, 2018

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I have been busy making Christmas cards since I usually mail out 30-40 handmade cards. I imagined this farmer went out and cut his own tree and dragged it back with his tractor for this country Christmas card made for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend.  I used the tractor from the 5059 - WC Harvest Set and the barn and fence from the 5011 - WC Truck Mini Set.  The tree is from the 4960 - WC Fir Trees Set.  I added some sparkle to the snow with a Wink of Stella glitter pen.  I drew the little wreath on the barn using the fine tips of the Marvy pens.  I used a white Uni-ball Signo pigment pen to make the snow.

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I made another Thanksgiving card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend using the church and tree stamps from the 5058 - WC Church Set. The leaves on the trees is a stamp from the 4604 - Chest of Flowers Set and the grass is from the 4051 - Foliage Set 1.  I got the idea to do the stained glass windows from Jann Gray who does bible journaling videos on YouTube for Art Impressions. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

I love November!  I'm a Thanksgiving baby so it's always been a fun month for me. Thanksgiving is my husband Tad's favorite holiday, and we always enjoy cooking together for our family. Watercolor Weekend October 6, 2018

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I was blessed with three sons and three grandsons.  So the inspiration for my card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend is a Fall fishing scene with my three grandsons - Conor, Caide and Charlie, using the brand new 5054 - WC Little Boys Set.  Both the little boys and little girls are must have sets!  I used the bucket and log from the brand new 5055 - WC Sitting Places Set for two of the boys to sit on.  The trees are from the 5010 - WC Tree Set 1 and the 4960 - WC Fir Tree Set.  I used the grass and tree foliage from the 4051 - WC Foliage Set 1. I made the fishing poles from the 4964 - WC Branches Set.

Watercolor Weekend September 15, 2018

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I used two of the little girls from Art Impression's brand new 5053 - WC Little Girls Set to make my card for the bi-monthly Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend Roundup. This scene is reminiscent
of my own granddaughters in their yard. I put one of the girls inside the 4703 - Flower Cart. She would be pink loving Brinley, the youngest, and the older one in the hat, would be Aubrey, my awesome softball player. Their blue house on the hill is from the 4961 - WC Mini Cottages Set. The flowers in the cart are from the 5008 - WC Flower Set 3 and the "lavender" on the ground is from the 4875 - Garden Wagon Mini Set.  The grass is from the 4051 - WC Foliage Set 1.  Ai has just come out with the greatest steel dies in all the usual shapes and sizes perfect for card making!  I used the 5062 - Rounded Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies to make my card.

Hello Watercolor Friends,

Be sure and join in on the new Art Impressions Bookmarks & Tags challenge on the Ai blog. You could win a stamp set of your choice and there are a lot of wonderful new stamps now available!

My tag for this launch was made using the tractor from the brand new 5059 - WC Harvest Set. My oldest son who lives on five acres in Colorado, actually has chickens and an old blue tractor. This would be the perfect tag to put on a present for him. I used the chicken from the 4207 - Feathers TF stamp set. The flowers are from 4868 - WC Flower Set 2.

The bookmark was created with my best friend in mind. Her name is Jamie and she goes by J. She loves to read and her daughter has blonde hair. I'm sure she will love it!  I used the brand new 5053 - WC Little Girls Set.  It's probably my favorite stamp set from this new release!  The stool she is sitting on is from another one of the new sets 5055 - WC Sitting Places.  The letter J is from another must have 5071 - WC Serif Letters Set. The flowers are from 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set.

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I made this card for the bi-monthly Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend Roundup using the truck from the 5011 - WC Truck Set and I used the quail family from 4207 - Feathers TF.  As you can see from the pictures, I have quail that travel through my back yard, every spring. Do you see the little baby chick on the log?  They make the cutest sounds and I just love how protective the parents are of their sweet little chicks.  The flower stamps I used are from 4868 - WC Flower Set 2 and the grass is from 4051 - WC Foliage Set 1.  The sentiment is from the set 4903 - WC Sentiments.

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I am still dreaming of being on the ocean so I created this card using the cottage from 4606 - Cottage by the Beach for the bi-monthly Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend Roundup. I used the small grass stamp from the 4051 - WC Foliage Set and the tiny dot flowers from 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set for the flowers in front.  I spread some liquid glue and then added real sand to make the beach.

Watercolor Weekend July 21, 2018

Hello Watercolor Friends,

Did you know, the Art Impressions blog features the Watercolor Weekend Roundup every first and third Saturday of each month?  Be sure to sign up and you will get the notice in your inbox.

I always dream of being near a sandy beach and the ocean during the summer time.  I wonder if others feel that way, too? So I made a scene by an ocean using a cabin from the 4962 - WC Rustic Cabins Set. I just sort of penciled in the rocky wall, trail and shore line, then watercolored them using my palette. I used the Molotow 2.0mm masking liquid to leave some white space where my flowers would be.  After it dried, I used the foliage from 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set to add the leaves, wiped off the masking liquid, then painted in the little flowers.  I used part of the fence from the 5011 - WC Truck Mini Set. I used the kite from the 4606 - Cottage by the Beach Set to add that whimsical touch it needed.
