Art Impressions "Twinkle in a Tangle"

I just love this stamp set from Art Impressions 4665 - Twinkle in Tangle!  So fun to watercolor and then add distress glaze to the light bulbs, the earring and the glasses.  I even added Wink of Stella glitter to the blue background so this card has more shine than what you can see in this photo. Who doesn't love the mistletoe tradition?  I have hung mistletoe every December since I can remember and I used to always get my husband and sons to kiss me but these days I get my grandsons to kiss me.    Happy holidays!

Watercolor Weekend December 16, 2017

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I'm busy making and sending Christmas cards.  I made this one using the new 4961 - WC Mini Cottages Set. I used the new 4964 - WC Branches Set to make the trees.  For the pinery I used the new 4867 - Foliage Set 2 and the bushes are from 4604 - the Chest of Flowers set.  I used some Zig Wink of Stella to add glitter to the snow which doesn't photograph well but it is so pretty in person!  I hope you have tried it.  I used a Uni-ball Signo pen to add the snow to the sky and the smoke to the chimneys.  Our next Watercolor Weekend will be in January so happy holidays to you all!

NO. 86 African violet

Watercolor Weekend November 18, 2017

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I made a shaker card for the Watercolor Weekend Round-up on the Art Impressions blog this weekend.  I used the 4702 - Wooden Door stamps for this one.  I love purple and green together so I made the door purple.  I knew I wanted to add multi-colored lights on the house, wreath and fir trees which I made using the new 4960 - WC Fir Trees Set.  I used a Sakura Gelly Roll pen to add that little bit of sparkle to the lights and the snow.

I just used the fine tip of the Marvy LePlume II pens to draw the multi-colored lights:
NO. 79 grape
NO. 75 sky blue
NO. 86 African violet
NO. 13 ochre
NO. 48 leaf green
NO. 46 crimson lake
NO. 72 pine green
NO. 45 sepia

4773 - Acrylic Blocks
#4 Paint Brush

I made this on Canson 140 lb watercolor paper.

Watercolor Weekend November 4, 2017

Hello Watercolor friends,

I don't know about you but Christmas always sneaks up on me, so I like to start my cards early. I love the traditional red and green for my Christmas decorations. I made this card using the Art Impressions WC Series 4 Set 1 - 4097.  Art Impressions Creator/Owner Bonnie Krebs has a wonderful Watercolor Wednesday tutorial on YouTube using this stamp set that you should try. I used the new 4960 - WC Fir Trees Set to make the wreath.  I added the snow with my Signo uni-ball white gel pen and I added some glitter using a Sakura Gelly Roll pen that is easier to see in the close-up photo.

I only used four Marvy LePlume II pens
NO. 86 African violet
NO. 45 sepia
NO. 28 English red
NO. 72 pine green

4773 - Acrylic Blocks
#4 Paint Brush

I made this on Canson watercolor paper.

Watercolor Wednesday October 4, 2017

My favorite day of the week is Watercolor Wednesdays on YouTube by Art Impression's creator Bonnie Krebs.  This adorable cottage was this week's tutorial from Bonnie.  I was so glad I had the stamps and the fence die so I could make this one because it's so perfect framed for my cottage room.  You can always use whatever stamps you have to make something similar.  Give it a try!

Day 28 of the Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge

I watercolored this card for day 28 of #thedailymarker30day coloring challenge.  I used the new WC Fall Set - 4963 from Art Impressions.  The bird is from the new WC Bird Bath Set - 4966 which truly is one of my most favorites from the new ones.  It's a must have in my opinion.  You get six birds, a bird bath and two really cute little birdhouses.  I used a pot from the WC Ornate Container Set - 4870.  The stand is from inking only the bottom part of the stamp from the WC Series 5 Set 2 - 4059.

I can't believe the coloring challenge is almost over.  It's been so much fun!  I haven't been able to color every day like I usually do but I'm happy with the amount of coloring I did get done.  I've really enjoyed being one of the goodwill ambassadors for the fabulous Kathy Racoosin who is the host of the coloring challenges.  I hope everyone found some time to color!

Day 9 of the Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge

Day 9 of #thedailymarker30day
Hi!

I hope you all are enjoying the coloring challenge?  I sure am.  There are so many inspirational, talented, supportive, friendly and encouraging artists out there participating on Instagram!  Taking the time to color, for even 5 minutes a day, can make you feel happy and relaxed.  It's good for the soul.  I love how it reminds me of how much I have enjoyed coloring and crafting all of my life.

I made this card with my favorite Art Impressions stamp set 4807 - Old Barn and my new set 4207 Feathers.  I just love putting animals in my scenes.  I can hardly wait to show you the new dogs set which won't be released until September 21, 2017.  Tune back then and you will fall in love.  I've been saying, "Please make dogs!" for quite a while and I'm certain putting it out there is partially responsible for making it happen.

Hello Friends,

Welcome to another Watercolor Weekend Roundup on the Art Impressions blog.  I created this somewhat masculine scene with Art Impressions stamps from the set Southwest, the Rustic Container Set, the grass from the Foliage Set 1, and the Furries set.  It seems I'm constantly needing masculine cards, probably because I'm married with three sons and three grandsons.  I always make cards for my family and friends.  I truly love making cards.  If you have always wanted to try it, do it!  Your friends and family will love getting your homemade cards.  Mine sure do.

Day 1 of #thedailymarker30day and #STAMPtember

Hello Friends,

This is going to be a fabulous month!  Today is day 1 of the The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  Have you heard of the Coloring Challenges by the fabulous and super talented Kathy Racoosin?  Her coloring challenges are what got me started on Instagram.  She's so encouraging and so is the coloring community on Instagram.  I've made so many wonderful and inspirational friends and I will forever be grateful to Kathy Racoosin!   Be sure to check it out and if you want to join, just color something up and post it on Instagram with the hashtag like this: #thedailymarker30day There are even prizes!

#thedailymarker30day

Another fabulous thing about September is the annual Simon Says Stamp celebration "STAMPtember".  I helped spread the word about the #Simonsaysstamp annual #STAMPtember celebration and received this "You Got This" stamp set for free!  There are so many awesome and encouraging sentiments.  This stamp set and many more new stamps are available for purchase on the Simon Says Stamp website, my "go to" company for many of the supplies that I use in my card making and scrapbooking.

I love how using the distress mosaic glaze makes the water in the bucket look like real water.  I really love all of the animals and flowers stamps from Art Impressions.  They are so easy and fun to use on these watercolor cards.  Hope you like it.

Watercolor Wednesdays August 18, 2017

This is my interpretation of Art Impression's Creator Bonnie Krebs' Watercolor Wednesdays on YouTube .  I changed mine to have two pots and a birdhouse instead of three pots like Bonnie did.  I also changed two of the colors.

I realized after I completed the card that the birdhouse doesn't really is a little bit too small for the bird so I decided to call it a hummingbird birdhouse.  I do have lots of hummingbirds in my back yard here in Las Vegas.  I keep two feeders full of sugar water year round and my hummingbirds never fly anywhere else for the winter.  One of my feeders is outside of my kitchen window and I get to see hummingbirds all the time.

Check out Bonnie's YouTube video and try it yourself.  You will love how easy and fun these watercolor cards are to make.

Watercolor Weekend August 19, 2017

Hello Art Impressions watercolor fans,

I have never been to England but my craft room is decorated in the shabby chic style and we have always called it the "cottage" room.  I made this birthday card using the English Cottage from the AI Watercolor Series 6 Set 1 - 3497 for the bi-monthly Watercolor Weekend Roundup.

I've often wondered why I hadn't seen the little bridge stamp set which is included in Set 1 - 3497 used on any cards in the AI watercolor cards on Pinterest.  I've seen several with the big bridge, but none with the little bridge.  You can follow my Pinterest board by clicking on this link.

Sometimes my best cards happen when I have to stop half way and go back to it later.  I love how this one turned out when I came back to it.  Maybe because it had dried completely?  I ended up stamping more leaves with olive green to the trees and then I added the flowers.  I added the shade to the water under the bridge and I made the Happy Birthday banner using my Brother label maker.

If you have made a card with the small bridge, please tag me @dotjiris in it so I can see how you used it.  I plan to use every one of my AI watercolor stamps again and again in different ways and colors. What other stamps do you get to use more than a few times?  Such a bargain for the money and super fun.  I seriously want them all!

I used these products from Art Impressions to make this birthday card:
AI Watercolor Series 6 Set 1 - 3497
The tree from the Old Barn Mini Set 4807
The leaves and the grass from the Foliage Set 1 - 4051
The ivy from the Foliage Set 2 - 4867
The flowers from the Flower Set 2 - 4868
Acrylic Blocks 4773

Marvy LePlume II Pens

Tombow 249 green pen
Tim-Holtz 4.25-X-5.5-Distress Watercolor Cardstock

Watercolor Wednesdays August 9, 2017

Tropical Veranda

This is my interpretation of Art Impression's Creator Bonnie Krebs' Watercolor Wednesday tutorial  on YouTube.  You can find all of the links to the supplies she used listed under her tutorial.  I used a different container, changed out one of the flowers and two of the colors just to make mine look a little different.  You can do that with any of the videos since the Art Impressions Watercolor stamps all work together to make so many beautiful scenes!

Watercolor Weekend August 4, 2017

Close up of the water with the Distress Mosaic Glaze

Hello.  I'm so excited to show you the first card I made as a watercolor guest designer for my most favorite stamp company - Art Impressions.  For those of you who love their watercolor stamps and can't get enough of Bonnie's Watercolor Wednesday's on YouTube, Art Impressions will now have "Watercolor Weekends" on their blog twice a month.  I'm lucky enough to be one of their guest designers along with Tricia Kennedy and Tricia O'Bin.  Check them out by clicking on their names and be sure to follow them.

I really love barns and I think a quilt should be painted on all of them.  I love how Iowa, where my best friend Jamie lives, has a lot of barns with quilts painted on the barn sides or doors.  I'm also a quilter which is another reason why I love barns with quilts painted on them.

The Old Barn stamp set  is my most favorite of all of the Art Impressions watercolor stamps.  I have used it more than any other except for the Foliage set 1 which is an absolute necessity if you are going to make these wonderful scenes.  I added the quilt to the barn by using a ruler and a Micron Pigma Pen.  I used Marvy LePlume II Pens - 72 Pine Green, 45 Sepia, 15 Olive Green, 17 Steel Blue, 28 English Red, and 86 African Violet and Strathmore watercolor paper to watercolor this scene.  I added Distress Mosaic Glaze to the water to make it look wet.

I gave away some of my "barn" cards and I have a few framed and placed around my house but I am beyond thrilled that the Art Impressions booth will have this card I made as an example at the future Scrapbook Expos.  Click here to see the schedule and maybe you can attend a watercolor class near you.  I'm still hoping to attend one myself!

My current favorite barn quilt but I have a pattern
so I can make one with barns with quilts on them.

Hello, I finally made a Halloween card this year and loved how it turned out. It's from the Art Impressions stamp set 5602  - Spooky Hou...
