Let's Celebrate

Hello,

Hope you all are having or had a wonderful Independence Day weekend? I want to thank Patricia Gutuskey on YouTube for pointing me to a true red by Tombow which I picked up at Michaels, #856.  I just love it! I made this scene quite by accident. I got out the Garden Wagon stamp set just to try out my new red pen. Then, I thought, I might as well make another red, white and blue scene so I got out the umbrella from the Beach Girls set and the ball from the Beach Boys set.  I had to put something in my wagon and thought a little girl from the Beach Girls Set in a red and white polkadot bikini would be perfect.  I used the Molotow pen to make the white waves. The dots in the sand are from the Flower Set and the grasses are from the Foliage Set 3. The birds are from the My Fortress Set. The sentiment is from the Greetery. I cut each piece of paper with the A2 Die Set. I hope if you try this out,  you tag me on Facebook or Instagram so I can see it.

Ai Watercolor Weekend July 3, 2020

Hello,

Happy 4th of July! I am very patriotic and I love the colors of red, white and blue. I knew I wanted to make at least one Independence Day card and I saw an acrylic painting like this scene on Pinterest, so that's what I decided to make for the bi-monthly Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend.  It's Day 3 of the fabulous Kathy Racoosin of the the Daily Marker's 17th coloring challenge.  Details here on her blog.

Fun fact: My husband and I lived on a horse ranch in Kansas when we were first married and we drove a light blue '55 Chevy Truck just like this one. The floor bed of the truck was wooden slats and we would use that truck to haul hay and grain for the horses. It had a stick shift and no air conditioning which wasn't fun in the summertime. I made a YouTube tutorial for this card:

Ai Watercolor Weekend June 19, 2020

Hello,

Summertime always has me pining for the beach so I made this beach card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend. I watched Georgia Sommers tutorial on YouTube that taught me several things which I implemented in this card. Like how to use Molotow to mask off the white parts of the waves. I used the same color for the water that she used - Tombow 249 and I used the dot flowers from the 4052 - WC Flower Set to make the sand pebbles. I also used a Wink of Stella glitter pen like Georgia did to blend the lines of the water. If you haven't watched Georgia's tutorial yet, click here to see it.  I also created a tutorial on YouTube for this card:

Ai Watercolor Weekend June 5, 2020

Hello,

This card was inspired by my oldest son's place in Colorado. He lives in a blue and white house with a barn, on four acres on a hill, with his wife and two daughters. He just finished creating an amazing swimming pond and the deer are always on his property. He pretty much lives in paradise. I grew up in Colorado and absolutely loved it. I thought this card would be good for my son's birthday card or even his anniversary. I made a tutorial on YouTube:

Here's a photo of the swimming pond and Aubrey's 13th birthday party.
