Floral Cards Challenge February 28, 2019

Hello Watercolor Friends,

There are some amazing brand new stamp sets available now from Art Impressions! I used the new 5125 - WC Elves Set to create this card for the latest challenge, "Floral Cards" on the Art Impression's blog. I stamped the mushroom using both the brown and blue. I pulled the color out of the lines. I took Sepia from the pallet to paint in the circles on the mushroom top.  I used the red 885 on the palette to color in the mushroom top. I stamped the door from the 5056 WC Fairy Doors Set (which fits perfectly) using the sepia and added lines with the fine tip of the sepia pen.  I colored the door pine green, using the palette. I used the sepia fine tip to darken in the door shadows and door knob leaving that white high light in the center. I used the stamp positioner to stamp the elf on top of the mushroom house using 40 brownish grey. Then I colored him using the pine green on his pants and hat and half sleeves and I used 77 pastel peach to color in his face and hands. I colored his hair and shoes in with the sepia. I stamped a single flower in his hand from the 4868 WC Flower Set 2 using blue 565 and pine green and then stamped in the group of those same flowers above the mushroom and added water. I used pine green and stamped the leaves from the 5009 - WC Mini Flower set then used the flowers from 4052 - Flower Set 1 and stamped the flowers in using the red 885. I added water to them. I used the grass from the 4051 - WC Foliage Set 1 and stamped it in using the olive green. I used the tall stalks from the brand new 5126 - WC Foliage Set 4 and the 72 pine green and stamped them in the background.  I put some olive green on the palette and dabbed it in around those leaves. I used blue 526 on the palette to color in my sky.  I took actual watercolor paint - silver and white to make my sky look more cloudy.  I cut out my image using the 5065 - Oval Double Stitched Dies and cut out the red background piece from the next larger oval die.  I used two of the 5063 - Rectangle Double Stitched dies for the next background pieces. I glued those little green jewel flowers in the corners. Lastly, I used a Copic Multi Liner 0.03 pen to add the black centers to the flowers, draw in the elf's eyelash, draw the string on his shirt, and sign and date it.

Warm Wishes February 21, 2019

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I loved Art Impression's Bonnie Krebs' video on YouTube yesterday making this pretty wintery scene.  I live in Las Vegas and it actually snowed here today.  It hasn't snowed and stuck like this since December of 2008.  What a perfect day to make this card which will be great for a winter birthday card.  I tried something different for the snow, I used iridescent embossing powder.  I love how it turned out but it's hard to get a picture of the way it really looks.

I'm also posting a picture and video of it snowing in my back yard:

This is also my card for day 21 of the fabulous Kathy Racoosin's coloring challenge - #thedailymarker30day If you need more information go to Kathy's blog here.

Watercolor Weekend February 16, 2019

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I made this fun birthday card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend using the cowboy boot from the 4871 - WC Rustic Container Set.  I stamped it in brown 969, then stamped it off on post-it tape, cut that out then covered the boot, inked up the stamp again and used the 4774 - stamp positioner to stamp the second boot. I pulled the color out of the lines then watercolored the boots in the brown 969 and pink 725 from the palette. I used the 40 brownish grey to watercolor in the ground for the boots and then shade from one boot to the other boot. Next I stamped the flowers from 5008 - WC Flower Set 3 in the boot and one on the ground using the 177, 636, and 725. I touched the flowers with a little water to bring out the color then stamped more flowers only, no stems. I die cut a balloon in pink glitter paper and glued it above the flowers and drew the black string using my favorite Copic pen 0.03. Then I used blue 528 on the palette to color in the sky. I used the purple 636 to make a shadow of the flower on the ground. I used an 5065 - Oval Double Stitched die to cut out my scene and a 5063 - Rectangle Double Stitched die out of the purple paper for the background. I used the 5064 - Circle Double Stitched Dies to cut out a piece of the pink glitter paper and the white paper for my sentiment. I stamped the sentiment "Love You" from the 4903 - WC Sentiments Set set in the brown 969 and used a foam square to give it some dimension. I stamped the inside with a "Happy Birthday" sentiment. Hope you get inspired to try this yourself. Use the cactus stamps and make a card for a male. I'm always looking for those kinds of cards with all of the males in my family.

Watercolor Weekend February 2, 2019

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I made this Valentine's Day card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend. I stamped the little girl from the Little Girls set and little boy from the Little Boys set in brownish grey.  I feel it doesn't spread much when you add water so it's pretty perfect to use for the kids.  Then I colored the little girl and boy's skin in from the palette using pastel peach. I used 725 to watercolor in the hat and shorts on the little girl and African violet to color in the boy's overalls.  I colored their hair from the palette using 969.  I added stripes to the boys shirt using 177.  I stamped in the tree trunk from the Fairy Door set with 969 then stamped in the leaves using 177.  I pulled the color out of the lines and added more 969 to the trunk of the tree from the palette.  I added grass from the Foliage Set 1 and pulled the color out of the lines with a wet brush.  I stamped the flowers from Flower Set 2 using the 177 for the stems and aubergine for the flowers.  After I added water, I ended up re-stamping just the flowers again because the flowers washed out too much and I used the tip of the 177 to draw in more stems. I added a lot of water to some African violet on the palette and colored in the sky and the shadows under the kids on the ground and on their white shirts.  I used the sentiment from Love is in the Air stamp set by only coloring the "Happy" in 969, then I cleaned the stamp and only colored in the "Valentine's Day" with the 969 so it would all fit on the bottom.  I used aubergine to paint in the little flowers on the girl's shirt. I used the Rectangle Stitched Dies to cut out my picture and a background piece, then I glued it all to the card base. I finished it all off by glueing on the three sparkly hearts.
